About BunTool

BunTool is one tool for one job: Turning your documents into useful PDF court bundles.

Bundles in court are important, because a court can't follow along with the evidence unless everyone is looking at the same thing. In 2025, a local authority's bundles were so bad that an entire case had to be re-heard!

Knowing what to put in and how to present them is a skill - but assembling them, paginating and bookmarking them is a pain. BunTool separates out the skill from the pain, letting people focus on their cases without needing to faff around with page numbering. The Court's rules can also be difficult to follow.

It's designed to be very quick and very simple so that anyone can use it even if they've never been near a court before, and to run in a browser (like Firefox, Edge, Safari or Chrome) without needing to install any special programs. The bundles are quite convenient, and work well for other contexts too - like formal meetings, for example. And it's totally private.

Since its first release, it has been used by court users of every kind: litigants in person, local authorities, pro bono advocacy and welfare charities, established law firms, and mediators and barristers in countries across the world.

About the Author

Tristan Sherliker

BunTool is developed by me, Tristan Sherliker. I'm an English lawyer*, and developer of small software tools. I enjoy technology and making tools for me and others to use. After working in the courts for over a decade with many inspirational people, BunTool started life as a quick bit of software to get the job of bundling done quickly. It became very useful, and I eventually extended it into something that anyone can use on their own computers.

Although I'm a lawyer on other days, BunTool is an entirely separate personal project released with my software developer hat on and is not a vehicle for legal advice.

If you've found BunTool helpful, or encountered a problem, or have any ideas please drop me a line or consider a donation.

Tools and use of AI

BunTool itself depends on many free software tools written by others, such as mupdf, jspdf, and pdf-lib. It would not be possible without the amazing work of their developers.

BunTool is not AI generated - its processing functions are written and maintained by hand. The website design is however created with the aid of Claude AI, using the Astro static site generator - another amazing piece of free software.
